Kathleen Asay, 75, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. She grew up in Beachwood, New Jersey, where she laid the foundation for a life defined by love, dedication, and tasteful elegance.
Kathy graduated from Toms River High School in 1968 and earned her degree from SUNY Broome Community College. She devoted nearly five decades of her professional life to caring for others as a dental hygienist, spending the majority of her career at Riverfront Dental Care. Her work ethic, compassion, and commitment to her patients were a true testament to who she was.
In the early 1970s, Kathy met the love of her life, Howard Asay. They married in 1973 and shared 52 wonderful years together, raising three daughters: Erin, Emily, and Katey. Kathy was a devoted wife and a loving, proud mother whose greatest joy came from her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gladys Hanley.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Howard; her three daughters; her cherished grandchildren, who were the light of her life; her five brothers and two sisters; and countless friends who were fortunate to know her kindness, warmth, and generosity.
Kathy had a deep love for exploring new places, with a special fondness for trips to Europe. She and Howard shared a passion for college football and traveled to campuses across the country to experience the excitement of game days. She also enjoyed antiquing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and had an incredible eye for design. Her home reflected her sense of style and her joy in decorating for every holiday. Kathy loved Broadway shows and treasured every moment spent with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Layton’s Funeral Home in Forked River, New Jersey, on Thursday, February 5th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Kathy will be remembered for her elegance, her love of family, her devotion to her work, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
